Welcome

Welcome to the San Antonio Composting Project!
Whether you’re a beginner looking to start your composting journey or an experienced vermicomposter aiming to enhance your skills, this group is here to provide valuable insights and strategies for successful composting. Vermicomposting is composting with red wiggler worms; it’s the worms that break down food scraps and organic materials, turning them into a nutrient-rich soil fertilizer.

Your Entryway to Vermicomposting
Are you an educator, an administrator, a chef, a restaurant owner, or a venue owner who is looking for ways to cut down on your solid waste fees?
How you find vermicomposting helps us to determine how we are able to help you. In schools, we offer guest speaking, worm kit workshops, in-school composting and gardening services, and more. For our corporate partners, we will help with circular economy strategy and waste diversion programs.
Loyal to the Soil
At the San Antonio Composting Project, we find food waste to not be trash- but potential.
We turn scraps into nutrient-rich soil through community-powered composting, partnerships with local organizations, and hands-on environmental education. By making composting accessible across San Antonio, we’re building a greener, more connected city from the ground up.
Consistent Service
It is of the highest order for our team to be consistent in delivering solutions to the community.
From the day-to-day tasks of delivering and retrieving buckets to the locations, to preparing educational materials for place-making events, trade shows, school educational experiences, and more.

Join Us in the Field
The San Antonio Composting Project is out in the field most days. Sometimes we pick up perishable items from a local food pantry to further distribute to people in need, sometimes we are working the large worm composting bins where we cultivate the growth of new red wiggler worms, and other times we are in community at City Council meetings, policy meetings, or social mixers all in the name of diverting food waste to become a nutrient-rich soil amendment.
