Finlays

San Antonio, TX

Finlays is a global B2B supplier of tea, coffee, and botanical ingredients and solutions to many of the world’s best-loved beverage brands, retailers, and foodservice operators.

We work with Finlays, with humble beginnings by picking up their food waste from the break rooms of their San Antonio, TX corporate business park location.

1. Our 1st Global Partner

With a heritage stretching back to 1750, today Finlays operates across five continents and places sustainability at the heart of all they do, supporting the long-term prosperity of their industry and all those connected to it.

For a small outfit from San Antonio, TX, it is our pleasure to work alongside a global player with roots in the same soil as us.

2. Coffee Grounds by the Truckload

In cooperation with Finlays, we will soon begin our operations of turning spent coffee waste into nutrient-rich soil in our hot composting fields.

Hot composting uses larger piles. The piles generate heat to help break down the organic matter into compost.

3. Up-cycled Bags

Reusing the jute bags in which fresh coffee beans are shipped around the world is just one more way we are teaming up to find circular economy solutions.

So far, we have used them as shade covers for our vermicomposting bins to protect them from the heat of the Texas summer. We are also sourcing designers, makers, and creatives to find even more creative reuse applications.

4. Sustainability in Action

With the massive data that Finlays has on global coffee and tea supply chain routes, and the data that we collect in the field, diverting food waste and other industrial byproducts, we are able to learn in real time how much of an impact we are having.

Activating this information also allows for forecasting on ways in which vermicomposting can increase revenues for similar industries around the world.
